A client mentioned to me recently that they wanted to do the ‘simplest Will I have probably ever done’ by leaving everything to charity. Seems simple, right? Strangely enough, a Will like that might need more preparation than a ‘standard’ Will because I need to get a heap of background information about why they have not included any family or friends, in case someone comes out of the woodwork later and challenges the Will. By then, the client isn’t around to tell their story so they need to tell me now. I also ask questions you might not have thought of – like what happens if one charity doesn’t exist anymore when they pass away?
