Agreed on your parenting arrangement with your ex but don’t want something as rigid as a Court Order? A Parenting Plan could be the answer.

A Parenting Plan is private contract prepared under section 63C of the Family Law Act. It states what you and your ex have agreed to regarding your children. It can include things like who the children live with, what times they will spend with the other parent, school holiday arrangements, choice of schools, medical treatment and much more. Importantly, it is not a Court Order, so if a parent doesn’t follow it, you often can’t go straight to Police or Court trying to enforce it. That said, having the Parenting Plan helps everyone understand what has been agreed to and hopefully avoid more problems arising in the first place.
